About
Cora Clancy's death was the subject of a separate murder indictment against her mother, Lindsay Clancy. Her father, Patrick Clancy, identified photographs and described her interests and January birthday party. Pediatrician Lindsay Rosshirt recalled Cora's five-year physical on January 24, 2023, as normal, considered constipation a possible explanation for her abdominal pain, and described Lindsay's behavior during the visit as appropriate. Teacher Susan Bertolo described Cora as ready for kindergarten and recalled her saying that she missed her hospitalized mother.
Emergency-response and forensic testimony addressed Cora's condition and death. Officer Brian Josephine described performing chest compressions on her in the basement while other responders assisted. Medical examiner Barbara Olson identified her cause of death as asphyxia by strangulation and explained the neck and hemorrhage findings, while stating that she could not determine the precise age or cause of Cora's bruises. Toxicologist Alicia Zimmerman reported no substances detected in screening Cora's postmortem heart blood. A DNA stipulation read by the judge reported Cora's inclusion in the single-contributor profile from a red-brown basement stain.
