The Case

Lindsay Clancy was tried on three counts of murder in the deaths of her children, Cora, Dawson and Callan, in Duxbury, Massachusetts. A central question at trial was whether the Commonwealth could prove that she was criminally responsible for her conduct.

The evidence included Clancy's psychiatric treatment, her actions before and after the children's deaths, and records from her phone. Prosecutors argued that she planned the killings; the defense argued that severe mental illness left her without criminal responsibility.

The jury reported that it could not reach a unanimous decision. Judge William Sullivan declared a mistrial on September 4, 2026, and discharged the jury without a verdict.

Prosecutors have not announced whether they will retry Clancy. A further court hearing is scheduled for November 2, 2026.
