About
Bethany DeCollibus testified for the Commonwealth on Day 8 about Lindsay Clancy's reports of persistent sleep difficulties and her behavior during roughly weekly social contact. A licensed marriage and family therapist who knew Clancy as a friend, DeCollibus described increasing tiredness after Callan's birth and concern as the sleep problems continued. She recalled Clancy expressing hope about treatment at a November dinner, then reporting no improvement at Cora's January birthday party.
DeCollibus distinguished those reports from what she observed: Clancy appeared tired but remained socially engaged, without other observed behavioral changes or difficulty communicating. She said Clancy had not disclosed suicidal or homicidal thoughts, voices, or intrusive thoughts to her. During Jennifer Sprague's direct examination, material concerning a 2023 police conversation refreshed her recollection of previously saying Clancy appeared fine at the January party.
On cross-examination by Kevin Reddington, DeCollibus confirmed Clancy's reports of anxiety, continuing poor sleep, and medications that did not seem to help. She said Clancy reported canceling her return to work because she still was not sleeping well. DeCollibus also described loving, consistent parenting and an apparently supportive relationship with Patrick Clancy, while acknowledging that she did not remember probing specific symptoms. The prosecution declined redirect.
