Richard Lippard testified on Day 4 that Lindsay Clancy appeared sedated and unresponsive while he supervised her in hospital custody and accompanied her helicopter transfer. Cross-examination developed visitor restrictions and a code-blue announcement while clarifying the limits of his observations and recollection.
Richard Lippard

Patrol officer with the Duxbury Police Department.
About
Richard Lippard testified for the Commonwealth on Day 4 about supervising Lindsay Clancy in hospital custody after being called back following his shift on January 24, 2023. The Duxbury patrolman described her as apparently sedated and unresponsive at South Shore Hospital, where she did not converse with him.
On direct examination by Shanan Buckingham, Lippard described accompanying Clancy by helicopter to Brigham and Women's Hospital and remaining there for approximately 15 to 16 hours. She was not awake or responsive to his knowledge. He recalled a nighttime medical code but explained that he was outside the room and did not know what it was.
On cross-examination by Kevin Reddington, Lippard confirmed that Clancy was unconscious at South Shore Hospital and during the transfer. He described two Duxbury officers supervising her at Brigham and Women's Hospital. After the court overruled a Commonwealth objection, he explained that officers prevented visitors. He confirmed a code-blue announcement and agreed with counsel's description of its seriousness. He did not recall handcuffs or hospital security, rather than affirmatively ruling out either. His observations ended when Officers Daley and Johnson relieved him; he did not return afterward.
