After jurors reported that they remained unable to reach a unanimous decision, Judge Sullivan gave supplemental deadlock instructions. He asked jurors favoring acquittal and conviction to reconsider their views respectfully without surrendering their own convictions. He reiterated the Commonwealth’s burden to prove every element beyond a reasonable doubt and directed jurors to resume deliberations. He also said a copy of the instruction would be sent to the jury room.
