About
Sergeant Rose Stoffers testified for the Commonwealth on Day 5 about photographing Lindsay Clancy at South Shore Hospital on January 24, 2023. She described Clancy under blankets with a neck brace, red-brown staining on her hands, and gauze at her wrists. Stoffers said Clancy pulled her right arm back when she tried to move it for documentation; nurses assisted with photographs of Clancy's hands, wrists, and neck. A hospital photograph, Exhibit 140, was admitted without objection.
Stoffers also described photographing clothing and two rings, but said she took nothing and did not know who retained those belongings. Defense counsel stated that foundation and chain of custody were not disputed. She corrected the date of a later assignment to February 6, 2023, when she photographed a bag of medication and documents at Trooper Rabbitt's request at the Plymouth Detective Unit's office in Brockton. She left those items there.
On cross-examination, Kevin Reddington questioned whether Stoffers had entered the house with Rabbitt. She clarified that she had not entered or photographed rooms there; the bag was already at the office when she arrived. Her testimony thus distinguished her photographic documentation from firsthand knowledge of the bag's collection. The Commonwealth declined further questions.
