About
Michael Vulfovich testified for the defense on Day 14 about Lindsay Clancy's injuries and emergency treatment. A board-certified emergency physician, he based his account on crime-scene photographs and records from South Shore Hospital and Brigham and Women's Hospital reviewed at Kevin Reddington's request, rather than personal observations of her treatment.
Vulfovich described reduced responsiveness, severe hypothermia, neck and wrist lacerations, spinal fractures, and transfer for higher-level care. He said the records described cardiac arrest requiring two rounds of resuscitation and significant internal bleeding. He distinguished superficial cuts from full-thickness wounds extending through the skin and said the reported window exit and ground impact were consistent with the injuries.
Reddington sought to connect the injuries with a suicide attempt, but the court sustained objections to questions comparing them with suicide attempts and asking whether they appeared to fake suicide. Vulfovich described self-injurious behavior while expressly declining to gauge intent. Reddington withdrew a final question after an objection and a request for sidebar. The Commonwealth declined cross-examination.
