About
State Police Sergeant Andrew Chiacchio testified for the Commonwealth on Day 8 about surveillance documenting Patrick Clancy's errands. He gave CVS visit times of 17:32:32 to 17:37:08 and 3V Restaurant visit times of 17:54:14 to 17:55:01. He reported no clock discrepancies after comparing the businesses' live surveillance clocks with his cellphone. He distinguished those recorded times from approximate iPhone travel estimates, acknowledging that he could not recall when he calculated the estimates and that they did not account for actual timing, traffic or accidents.
Chiacchio also described later physical evidence collection. Photographs showed potential exterior blood stains that had not initially been swabbed, prompting collection of swabs and shingles under a June 2023 warrant. Over a hearsay objection, the court allowed him to confirm that he spoke with the crime lab but not to recount its answers. He separately described collecting Lindsay Clancy's cheek-swab sample in May 2024 and handling that evidence; he gave no testing results.
Chiacchio authenticated a May 5, 2021 Facebook parenting post admitted without objection as Exhibit 217. Buckingham read passages expressing frustration with a 19-month-old child and seeking parenting advice. On cross-examination, Chiacchio confirmed that the post concerned Dawson and agreed that investigators had examined whether Lindsay Clancy had been abusive to him and had found nothing. The Commonwealth declined further questioning, and he was excused.
